Spring 2012 Internships:

DC Office:January 3rd - April 27th

State Office: January 3rd- April 27th

Application Deadline: November 11th

Summer 2012:TBA

My office offers three Congressional Intern sessions each year in Washington, DC and four field offices in Wyoming .

The program provides Wyoming ‘s youth with a unique opportunity to view first hand how our government operates. The history of Congressional Internships runs deep on Capitol Hill, and the program is an integral part of my Senate office. Young people from throughout Wyoming apply each year so that they may have the unique experience of witnessing our world’s greatest democracy in action.

I have decided to launch a internship program in my Wyoming field offices to give more young people in Wyoming an opportunity to work for the Federal Government while remaining in our great state. This new program will enable interns to experience a critical part of a United States Senator’s work: constituent outreach and service. Part-time internships will also be available in order to accommodate the students’ class schedule if necessary.

The internship program in my offices consists of two four-month sessions in the Spring and Fall, and one three month session in the Summer.

In both Wyoming and D.C., interns will participate in a wide array of activities ranging from constituent relations to legislative research. In addition, interns are encouraged to enjoy the many other activities and events the area has to offer.

Applicants are generally college students, 21 years of age and older, from the State of Wyoming . Each intern is given a monthly stipend to help with living expenses.

Due to the delayed screening process of mail coming into Congressional office buildings, all persons interested in applying should use the online intern applicationor can use the link below to print off an application and fax the completed form to (202)-224-1724 with attn. to “Macy Sukut”.

If you have any questions, please contact Macy Sukut in my Washington, DC office at (202) 224-6441.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –, Oct 4 -

U.S. Senators Mike Enzi, John Barrasso and Representative Cynthia Lummis, all R-Wyo., issued the following statement following the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposal to delist the gray wolf from the Endangered Species List and transfer wolf management to the state of Wyoming.

“I’m pleased that we are one step closer to Wyoming managing wildlife in Wyoming,” said Enzi. “This proposal gives everyone something to like. Big game hunters will see management that allows the wolf not to decimate our big game herds. Ranchers will also benefit. Even wolf lovers should be happy with this announcement. There are hundreds and hundreds of wolves in the Rockies that were not there before the federal government forced them on our states. Now, we’ve agreed to keep them at certain population levels and to let the state be the judge over how to best manage the animals. ”

“After more fits than starts, the Obama Administration has finally officially recognized that Wyoming should be in control of managing the wolf, not Washington,” said Barrasso. “In questioning Assistant Secretary Ashe today, he assured me that his department would mount a ‘vigorous’ defense of the delisting. I look forward to that defense of Wyoming’s authority and making it stand.”

“Wyoming’s nearly decade-long saga on the fully recovered gray wolf is, I hope, coming to an end. There is still work to be done, but today’s news is further momentum in the fight to grant Wyoming’s on-the-ground experts the right to manage our wolves. I look forward to the conclusion of our state’s delisting efforts which have been held up by Washington intrusion and repeated lawsuits that should have been resolved long ago,” said Lummis.

Washington (Sep 19)

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement in response to the President’s latest debt plan.

“Pitting one group of Americans against another is not leadership. The Joint Select Committee is engaged in serious work to tackle a serious problem: the debt crisis that is making it harder to get our economy growing and create more American jobs. Unfortunately, the President has not made a serious contribution to its work today. This administration’s insistence on raising taxes on job creators and its reluctance to take the steps necessary to strengthen our entitlement programs are the reasons the president and I were not able to reach an agreement previously, and it is evident today that these barriers remain.”

NOTE: The President’s proposal would raise taxes on both small businesses and on private capital, which is the essential ingredient for job creation in our economy. By declining to support structural improvements to strengthen our entitlement programs, the President has chosen to ignore the warnings about our debt crisis sent by the markets in August – leaving Americans exposed to the possibility of further downgrades that will further damage confidence and make it harder for our economy to grow and create jobs.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Matt Mead said the State of Wyoming has lost one of its great leaders with the passing of Senator Malcolm Wallop. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1976 and left office in 1995.

“My wife Carol and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Wallop. With his brilliance and determination he fiercely defended Wyoming values; advocating for our military, for smaller government and for individual freedoms. Senator Wallop provided leadership for Wyoming and America during his three terms as Senator and every day since. He fought for lower taxes, multiple-use of public lands and developing America’s energy resources. Senator Wallop will be greatly missed as a leader and as a friend.”
